With many years experience in investigating suspected insurance fraud, we understand the extreme difficulties facing the insurance industry. Over the last 20 years, we have seen dramatic changes in how claims are dealt with both internally and externally. While the Security Industry Authority (SIA) have in recent years introduced legislation requiring ALL activity within the security industry to be licensed, some fifteen years later we find private investigations has still to be integrated into this legislation.
We look forward to completion of this measure but having recently spoken with the SIA, we still have no definitive time frame for this to be actioned. The result is that currently any person whom may wish to do so, can become a private investigator over night, without any training or, more importantly, with no experience. However, once legislation is in place, it is our belief matters will be greatly improved in the field of insurance fraud investigation.
The insurance industry is continuously exposed to risk. With the cost of escalating claims, insurance companies work hard to provide an efficient service to industry and the public while at the same time addressing the costly investigation of suspicious claims. Individuals and organised gangs proactively seek to defraud insurance companies by means of exaggeration of a spontaneous accident or by conspiracy to defraud. The effect of this is that some of the cost of such activity is ultimately passed on to every single policy holder, increasing the cost of insurance nationwide.
In a 2014 it was estimated that there were approximately 130,000 fraudulent insurance claims, many of which were motor vehicle related. This cost the industry £1.32 Billion across product ranges, pushing up the cost to policy holders of approximately £50 pa, per policy.
Every individual has certain social rights as well as obligations. The Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 introduced new legislation relating to Stalking and Harassment. However, we believe there will be a continued rise in such breaches of right due to cultural negligence and demands.
Anti-Social behaviour remains rife in some areas of the country with local authorities and police hard pressed to deal with the situation efficiently. There is also evidence of malice in some cases following escalation and break down of communication in matter such as a simple parking dispute.
With reducing assets and funding, misjudgements are unfortunately a by-product of many cases brought to court by local authorities, which when they fail, prove to cost the tax payer tens of thousands of pounds.
There is risk in everything we do. Unfortunately success attracts the risk of outside attempts to get in on the secrets of how you operate. The risk to an organisation or company can be both extensive and expensive if not properly and efficiently mitigated. Many companies have a high employee level with sensitive information entrusted to a considerable number of these. Insider collaboration is often the mechanism by which security is breached resulting in the theft of extremely sensitive intellectual property which once achieved, is extremely difficult to reverse. Fortunately there are security systems available to mitigate risk but choosing a professional and diligent provider is not an easy proposition.
Profile executive risk solutions are a service provider of multi-tiered security risk solutions. We have been discreetly providing such services for more than 20 years, assisting national & international corporate businesses, the insurance industry, celebrities and the media to mitigate risk. We have the required assets available to deliver a bespoke service upon which clients can depend.
The first step to mitigating a threat is to realise the foundation of risk, identify weaknesses, assess and formulate a plan of mitigation. It is by the mitigation process that many businesses tentatively continue to function efficiently. The mere fact that a business is proactively enforcing mitigating procedures is often enough to reduce the threat however, not always.
We provide services across four modules; Surveillance, Protection, Risk and Profiling. Each of these encompasses a number of services which although are a service in their own right, may be a part of a wider bespoke provision. This will be easily configured due to the multi skill capability of individual operatives. Therefore; a close protection provision may incorporate an element of protective or counter surveillance, which will usually be achieved without requiring additional manpower.
